The artistic vision of Brisbane Powerhouse is inspired by the building itself. A place that once generated electricity now generates creativity. Like Brisbane’s trams once were, Brisbane Powerhouse now is – popular, accessible, affordable and for all of the people of Brisbane. An artistic dialogue between Brisbane and the world is at the heart of the artistic program of Brisbane Powerhouse.

Brisbane Powerhouse is generously funded by Brisbane City Council. However, support from philanthropic foundations, sponsors and cultural partners has played a vital role in our ability to deliver quality performing and visual arts over the last 11 years. Our program last year presented 979 individual events.

We would like your help to expand what we do, and acknowledge your assistance by adding your name to the Donor Graffiti Wall. We like to think that Brisbane Powerhouse makes a difference to the vibrancy of the city of Brisbane. By becoming a donor, you can help us make that difference.

Your Donation Will Make a Difference For:

Support for new and emerging local artists

Brisbane Powerhouse wants to foster an environment where emerging and developing artists can collaborate and bring their ideas to life. Through the POWERLAB residency program, both emerging and established artists would be given dedicated space and focused time with professional support for the creation of new ideas and the development of performances to a live audience.

Children’s Program

Brisbane Powerhouse offers an extensive and diverse live arts program for children of all ages with the focus being on its annual children’s festival ‘Powerkidz’. Apart from staging world class theatre for children, Brisbane Powerhouse offers many interactive experiences for young people. Our focus for new funds is to grow our schools and education program to foster a growing appreciation of live performance in Brisbane.

Visual Arts

Brisbane Powerhouse presents the finest Australian and international photography and photojournalism available, encouraging debate about the world in which we live, and providing a different position from which to view the world. All exhibitions are free. We would like your help to continue and enhance this work.
