Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s premier multi-arts venue presenting the best local, national and international contemporary performing arts events. It is located in the inner city suburb of New Farm, 3km’s from Brisbane’s CBD on the banks of the Brisbane River boarding the beautiful New Farm Park.

There are three performance spaces: the Powerhouse Theatre, which is the larger theatre space; the Visy Theatre, which is a smaller intimate theatre; and the Turbine Platform which is a larger open space visible from the main foyer and normally open to the general public.

Brisbane Powerhouse also has a number of function spaces which are hired out for events ranging from small meetings to weddings and conferences.

The program presented at Brisbane Powerhouse is curated by a programming team which is lead by the Artistic Director, Andrew Ross, and when theatre space is available, it may be hired out to commercial presenters.

Theatre Hire Booking Process

1)       Review the information contained in the links below to confirm which theatre is suitable for your event.

2)       Check available dates by emailing the Theatre Hire Manager (link below). In the email, indicate the preferred space, dates and schedule of events i.e. bump in, performance times, bump out.

3)      If the space is suitable and the dates are available the hirer has the option to proceed to contract which secures the booking. The booking is not confirmed until a signed Theatre Hire Agreement and booking deposit have been received.

4)       A production form is then sent to the hirer. This outlines all the important information (including ticket prices) required to build the event in the ticketing system and on the Brisbane Powerhouse website and is to be returned at least 2 weeks prior to going on sale. A high resolution image and copy for the website will be required at this time also.

5)       The technical details form will also be sent to hirer for completion. This document lists all the technical aspects of the show. The hirer will need to provide technical specifications and stage plans (including a lighting plan) of the show. A production cost estimate based on this information will be sent to the hirer for approval.

6)      All marketing and publicity is the responsibility of the hirer and materials created to promote the show must be sent to the Brisbane Powerhouse Marketing Manager for approval prior to going to print.

7)       Once tickets go on sale, a regular ticket sales report will be emailed to the hirer leading up to the event.
