Documentary
A poignant film about two Israeli transgender lovers who struggle to become what they were meant to be in a world that doesn't understand them.
Lior is from a Kibbutz near the Dead Sea and is opinionated and outspoken, Yuval is from the bourgeoisie area of central Israel and is introverted and quiet. These differences amount to very little in comparison to what they share. Both men were born female, and each is struggling to change perceptions all around them.
Lior turns the camera on himself and beautifully documents the fear, excitement and bravery that accompany his transformation; from cutting his ponytail right through to his experience in the operating room. Yuval initiates a legal battle for his identification card to state that he is a man. Journeying alongside them is Lior’s mother, who faces her own struggle to accept her new son in place of the daughter she raised for 22 years.
