CASSIE WORKMAN GIANTESS

FRESHWATER ENTERTAINMENT + MANAGEMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BRISBANE POWERHOUSE PRESENT

Fresh from winning the Best of the Fest award at the Sydney Comedy Festival and Most Outstanding

Show award nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy festival, Cassie Workman’s Giantess

comes to Brisbane Powerhouse’s Melt Festival in July.

Witten and performed by multi-award-winning comedian Cassie Workman, Giantess is a

devastating and funny fable for big kids. It’s the story of a six-year-old girl who was abducted

by a troll at the local shopping centre, is locked away in their kingdom for many years and

needs to find the strength of a giantess to save her.

Interweaving live music, stand-up comedy, storytelling and illustrations, Cassie’s highly

original one-person show explores the anguish of coming to terms with a gender identity that

doesn’t match your body.

‘Giantess is a colossal achievement.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Herald (2019) full review

‘It’s quite a privilege to witness” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Western Australian

‘Raw and powerful.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Age (2019) full review

Cassie entered the public eye after winning Triple J’s “Raw Comedy” national open mic

competition in 2009, She went on to write five one person shows which toured Australia and

the UK, and have been nominated and won multiple awards including Best Comedy at the

Adelaide Fringe. In 2018 Cassie was a contributor for ABC’s Tonightly Show with Tom Ballard

with her series So You Think You Can Trans which has picked up thousands of views and

shares online.

Cassie is known for her heartfelt and emotive story-telling, her incisive wit, and her brutal

deconstruction of the status quo. There is no other voice like hers in comedy today.

Producer Lisa Freshwater of FEM says: “Giantess is an exciting and original piece of theatre

that has you simultaneously laughing and gasping as it’s extraordinary courage.”
