Ever wanted to escape into a virtual reality? Now you can with our free VR taster sessions during IRL Digital Festival.

Grab an armchair, strap on your VR goggles and go! You can enjoy ‘it’s behind you!” chills, free-falling action thrills and fantasy environments where the world completely surrounds you. Experience the way storytelling is supposed to be – immersive and electrifying.


Tail Drift (7+)

Jump into the pilot seat and take to the skies in this 360 degree arcade racer. Tail Drift is a fast action racing game where you zoom through fantastic environments. Compete while flying around floating islands, ancient temples and desert canyons, with a fleet of unique planes.

Extinction Point (13+)
Gordon Moyes with Ben Hartley

Gordon Moyes, Program Director of Games Design at Griffith University’s Griffith Film School, brings you Extinction Point, a virtual reality giant military robot simulation game exploring the potential for future climate change induced conflict.

Your mission is set at the edge of the East Alaskan Desert in 2100, on the border of the last remaining farmable North American land. Your task is to defend your clan’s land from the hungry, or join them.

Take control of your own starship in a cut-throat galaxy. In the year 3300, interstellar rivalries flare as galactic superpowers fight wars. On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon. You can now experience this event by becoming Neil Armstrong and boarding the Saturn V Rocket, which is still to this day the most powerful machine ever created by humans.

Insurgent: Shatter Reality (13+)

How would you like to be a character in a scene from a blockbuster movie? In Shatter Reality, you take on the role of a ‘Divergent’, captured by Jeanine Matthews and her Erudite faction, subjected to a series of mental ‘simulations’ to determine the full extent of your divergence.

As the first of its kind, 11:57 sets out to offer a 360-degree nightmare by making the spectator the main character of the film. This means that rather than just watching the film, you become part of the actual set making the action revolve around you.

How do I get to Brisbane Powerhouse?

Is parking available?
There is limited free-of-charge, all-day, on-site car parking at Brisbane Powerhouse. If you are travelling by car, please arrive early to secure a park. Additional free parking is available in New Farm Park accessible via our link road, which is opened after 5pm on performance days.

What time should I arrive?
It's best to arrive at least 30-40 minutes before the show start time to find a car park, pick up your tickets at box office and make your way to the venue. The doors of the venue will open approximately 10-15 minutes prior to show time.

Where do I pick up my tickets?
Tickets will be available for pick up from Box Office 60 minutes prior to show time.
