Velvet Helmet presents… Best In Show!

Presented by Brisbane Powerhouse and Velvet Helmet

We want to party with you! Join us for a night of decadence and bewilderment.

Velvet Helmet brings you a cavalcade of burlesque, comedy, circus, theatre and music for an evening that’s somewhere between Weimar cabaret and an artist-led riot. Velvet Helmet present experimental and innovative performances from Brisbane’s independent artists who embrace both high and low-brow art. Go on a journey to a place filled with secret delights, that’s home to dangerous ideas and out-of-kilter characters.

Best In Show brings together the very best performers from a whole year of wild and wonderful Velvet Helmet events. The transcendent cast features original acts from some of Brisbane’s most notorious performers. Circus darling and cabaret star Pitisi Hatcher is our transcendent host, Ava Marianna. Rebekah Yeo is Pain Proof Pixie, a sideshow performer with nerves of steel, skin of Teflon, and smile of the most mischievous faerie. Comedy maestro Tim Monley is Gary Nostrils, a guru for our times and Phoebe Manning is the whimsical clown Earnest, who is looking for love in the stage lights.Wayne Jennings, Richard Grantham, Alice Wheeler and James Lees are the motley collective that comprise the darkly delicious musical ensemble, The Ragtag Band.

Want to party on after Wonderland? Velvet Helmet will also take over the New Globe Theatre for the Wonderland After Party. See Wonderland After Party for details

Velvet Helmet is Brisbane’s most delicious underground cabaret. Held on the second Wednesday of each month, the line-up is a delectable mash-up of burlesque, cabaret, theatre, spoken word, circus, comedy, poetry and live music.
