Kev Carmody

Presented by Brisbane Powerhouse and One Louder

Experience the inspiring life and music of Songman, Kev Carmody.

Poet. Radical. Grandad. National treasure. Kev Carmody is many things. Co-writer of the Australian classic, From Little Things, Big Things Grow and the writer of “The best album ever released by an Aboriginal musician” (Rollling Stone, 1987),  Kev will be performing at Brisbane Powerhouse on Fri 29 January.

His first tour in over eight years, it will include songs from his new four-disc album Recollections… Reflections… (A Journey). The concert will be preceded by a screening of the new short documentary Songman, an intimate portrait of Kev by director Brendan Fletcher.

Performance Time: 7.30PM (duration 100 minutes – includes 30-minute documentary to precede performance and 10-minute interval).

Kev is a colossus… He’s powerful and scary and beautiful. Like something you’d see in nature. Like a wave. Or rapids. Big rapids. A thunderstorm… awesome in the truest sense.

Dan Sultan

It’s very nostalgic, his music. It conjures up long forgotten stories and takes you to places that you have heard whispers of and heard stories of but have never really experienced yourself…there’s an ancient wisdom in his songs.
