Tim Rogers sits down with Paul Barclay to reflect on his life, his career in music and his recently published memoir Detours, an offbeat and immensely charming literary memoir.
As one of Australia’s most enduring rock legends, Rogers is a contradiction: a hard-drinking rock star with the soul of a poet; a wordsmith and a raconteur, a romantic and a realist, a bon vivant and a loner.
He’s the wild man of Australian rock n’ roll, a footy playing dandy who was brought up in the wild emptiness of Kalgoorlie, but he’s now an urban shadow – a legend of Australian rock music, more often than not in transit, but with a key jingling in his pocket, looking for an opportunity, one day, to get home.
The evening promises to be by turns revealing, warm, self-deprecating, intimate, shocking, confessional, sharp, funny and immensely engaging.
Tim Rogers will be signing copies of Detours on the evening.
