Broken Romantics: A Unicorn’s Quest For Love

Presented by Emma Dean in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse

Emma Dean has been writing and collecting songs about heartbreak since 1997.

In Broken Romantics: A Unicorn’s Quest For Love, Dean has drawn many of these songs together to make a magical ‘mixed tape’ of broken romantic memories, with each song a unique story told through the bizarre and enchanting lens of this self-confessed ‘f*%king unicorn’.

A recent smash hit at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Emma and her Broken Romantics band, with astonishing physical theatre performer Jamie Kendall, will delight you with a glittering explosion of music and mischief that will have you feeling empowered – cracks and all – and ready to take on the world!

Featuring sublime original music, captivating storytelling and well known songs by Sia, Foo Fighters and more, this show is not to be missed!

...'Broken Romantics' a highlight of the Fringe – everyone should see this show....You’ll leave this show feeling absolutely empowered and ready to take on the world, and with the confidence that you too, are a unicorn. ★★★★★

Ed Fringe Review

“Singer, songwriter and self proclaimed ringmaster Emma Dean is a hobobag full of crazy pills. Like the really awesome hallucinogenic kind…100% addictive”

New York Post

“Quirky, kooky and a little bit eccentric … that’s just who this breath-taking performer is and everything about her is glorious. As Dean says, sometimes you need to accept that you aren’t a horse… you really are a unicorn”

The Konfetti and The Creative Issue, Brisbane, Australia

Dean’s unicorn-ego is no wilting cupcake, it’s forged in the fire of heartbreak, and bathed in the fury of her own awakening. ★★★★
