Presented by Brisbane Powerhouse in association with Maeve Marsden

Enter the raucous, radical then at times sweetly heartwarming world of Queerstories and be moved by an unexpected tale or two from some of Australia’s finest LGBTQI+ storytellers.

Hosted and developed by writer, director and performer, Maeve Marsden, the upcoming edition of Queerstories features a fresh lineup of storytellers, including writer Holly Zwalf, youth worker Shaun D’Souza, academic Dr Sandy O’Sullivan, disability activist Annabelle Oxley and more.

The LGBTQI+ community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating their own histories, disrupting conventional ideas about narrative, family and community. There’s so much more to being queer than coming out and getting married.

All Queerstories events are Auslan interpreted.
Winner Best Spoken Word at Sydney Fringe, with regular sell-out events, a book published by Hachette Australia and a popular podcast, Queerstories is fast becoming an institution around the country.

In a market where queer voices are often sanitised, Queerstories is political and pivotal...Queerstories is an invitation for the world to listen to the queer community at its rawest and, above all, it's a safe space for queer readers to come home to.

Indeed, the eclectic individuals, so disparate in tone and experience made me question the nature of community – but the voices are united in common purpose – to ensure that their/our stories are heard.
