Adulting: Tash York

Presented by Big Hair Productions in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse

If you’ve ever been engaged at 19 or have parking tickets worth a house deposit, then, like Tash, you’ve probably not mastered Adulting.

It is the process of doing ‘grown-up’ things. Things like holding down a job, paying your bills on time, cooking dinner (that doesn’t involve Maccas drive-thru) and even doing your taxes.

As a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium, Tash has previously sold out her Wonderland Festival season of These Things Take Wine. She is also a guest entertainer with P&O Australia and is the MC of the critically acclaimed After Hours Cabaret Club.

Known for her ballsy voice and witty repartee, this award-winning cabaret artist Tash York will help us all understand why growing up is hard!

More Info

Big Hair Productions is solely based around the work of Tash York and other productions that she has written. As an emerging artist Tash has always made sure that her work was easily accessible to a variety of ages and backgrounds, easily transportable and could still function with low tech or low budget. Starting her cabaret career in 2014 she performed her first work in venues that were no bigger than a lounge room with a lighting desk.

Her first solo show "These Things Take Wine" went from its beginnings at Club Voltaire a 30 seat venue in North Melbourne to eventually touring to every major fringe festival and a few cabaret festivals along the way. Big Hair Productions formally known as NY Entertainment has produced “These Things Take Wine”, “Adult Fairy Party”, “The Desperettes: A guide to being a wingman” and now “Adulting. Each of these shows have received rave reviews and sold out performances across the world including the Edinburgh Fringe.

As of October last year Tash’s work was picked up by Grayboy Entertainment Agency and an abridged version of "These Things Take Wine" is now a regular Guest Entertainer show on P&O cruises. As a one stop shop Big Hair Productions is run and funded directly by Tash herself and as a result of this she is competent across a variety of skill sets including creating marketing campaigns, writing and distributing press, organising photo shoots, photoshop design, creating online videos and has even become an expert at writing in third person.
