Presented by Collectivist in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse

An intimate, outrageous, high energy circus and physical theatre experience awaits.

Dwell blends cabaret, narrative and the unexpected. Check-in if you dare!

Dwell features a diverse group of Australian circus, dance and physical theatre performers. The audience are voyeurs to the comings and goings of the guests of one pay-by-the-hour room at the Dwell Motel.

Each guest follows three simple rules: Please leave the room as you found it; Your stay is short, make the most of it; And please take your baggage with you when you leave.

The results are sexy, dark, funny, strange, and unexpectedly sweet. The original Dwell sold out all four shows at Anywhere Festival 2019 and has been selected for the Wonderland Festival in Brisbane in November 2019

In Dwell, Collectivist have created a beautifully simple concept with endless possibilities that could easily be toured and reset with a rotating cast. The cast take us on an intimate dive into the worlds of some beautifully weird creations with equal parts humour, pathos and skills. I can’t wait to check-in again when they next have a vacancy.

Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane

Dwell is a dynamic show. Its on-point soundtrack is a standout and lighting casts some stunning silhouettes of the physical performances in individual contortion and balance atop each other. Indeed, the strength and skill of every performer is undeniable, resulting in a number of well-earned mid-routine audience outbursts of applause.

More Info

Collectivist is a new Brisbane circus collective, our aim is to support each others wild ideas, and see them make it to the stage.

Dwell completed its preview as part of the Anywhere Festival. The show was performed as a test run over four nights to an audience of 40 at the Woolloongabba Substation. The show will be going back into development after Anywhere to prepare for Wonderland, engaging a director and introducing new acts.
