Feeling Good

Mama Alto sings Nina Simone

Presented by Mama Alto in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse

Dr Nina Simone was one of the most important and unique voices in music history.

In this stunning tribute to the High Priestess, jazz singer and cabaret diva, Mama Alto performs selections from Nina Simone’s vast songbook to illuminate her fire, her power, her genius and her anger.

Channelling a gift for interpretation and a hunger for equality, Feeling Good is a spellbinding evening not to be missed. Mama Alto and pianist extraordinaire Miss Chief are thrilled to return to Brisbane Powerhouse and Wonderland Festival following their acclaimed and triumphant performances of Lady Sings The Blues (2018) and Torch Songs (2017).

Mama’s voice is divine and each song is delivered with a sense of reverence that is absolutely captivating

Mama Alto gave a total performance: singing into an old-fashioned microphone with one part seduction, two parts pain and a little bit of fun.
