Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s national comedy competition Class Clowns has been unearthing the freshest voices in Australia comedy for almost three decades, and this year’s stars are some of the most hilarious yet!
Winners will see themselves competing for a place in the National Grand Final at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where they could win a massive $1,500 cash prize (plus a workshop for their school)!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Class Clowns has been helping young people develop their comedy potential for almost three decades.
Past Class Clowns participants Josh Thomas (Please Like Me, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Annie Louey (radio presenter), William McKenna (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Messenger, Nowhere Boys), Aaron Chen (Fisk, 2017 Best Newcomer Award and 2019 Directors’ Choice Award winner at Melbourne International Comedy Festival) and Rhys Nicholson (RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under and Most Outstanding Award winner at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2022).
In addition to workshop and performance opportunities, all registered Class Clowns participants are provided with access to expert advice through an exclusive series of videos from some of Australia’s funniest folk filled with tips and tricks to help budding performers get started on their comedy journey.
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is always on the look-out for our next generation of comedic voices, and there’s never been a better time to encourage the confidence, creativity and talent of young Australians!
