ABOUT THE SHOW

Making history as the first jazz band to win the Mercury Prize (2023), Ezra Collective tours their winning album Where I’m Meant To Be.

Standing at the forefront of UK’s jazz renaissance, the heavyweight collective will light up sweaty dance floors in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth with their trademark cool confidence and bright energy.

The 5-piece of virtuosic talent, both respectfully pay homage to a classic jazz blueprint whilst simultaneously transforming the craft into something of their own. Their winding hybrid sound – marrying the delicate technicalities of jazz musicianship with afrobeats, grime and hip hop – tied together by a sound that’s unmistakably London has captivated the world.

Recognised as one of the hottest live shows going, they’ve lit up countless venues and festivals, including an essential Glastonbury performance, while also shining in the prestige of Ronnie Scotts or Blue Note, NY.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Before the pandemic struck, Ezra Collective were on fire. A world tour awaited them following years of hard graft, the critically acclaimed release of their 2019 debut album You Can’t Steal My Joy, and an explosive Glastonbury performance that brought UK jazz to unseen heights. “Then a big pause button was pressed,” says Femi Koleoso, the drummer and bandleader. Ezra had been touring relentlessly for more than half-a-decade, stopping only occasionally to record. “The pandemic was how we entered this transition phase,” he continues.

Ezra Collective’s debut EP Juan Pablo: The Philosopher and follow up album You Can’t Steal My Joy garnered much critical praise and brought UK Jazz to unseen heights.

Ezra Collective’s latest album Where I’m Meant To Be is an affirming elevation in the band’s voice and refined collective character. A thumping celebration of life, the album features Sampa The Great, Kojey Radical, Emile Sandé, Steve McQueen, and Nao. Full of call-and-response conversations between their ensemble parts, a natural product of years improvising together on-stage.

"Ezra is about being Black Londoners. We always try to be very UK, and a lot of that is to do with falling in love with grime." - Femi Koleoso, Ezra Collective
