ABOUT THE SHOW

The Cool Mum is a hilarious comedy show for teens to Boomers!

You can become cool – the Jo Ghastly way (seriously, Jo is on TikTok so you know she’s got the credentials!).

Don’t have any kids of your own? Don’t worry, Jo will be teaching you how to unlock the inner cool potential of your own parents.

Chosen to have fur babies? This show will validate your choice to never have children.

The Cool Mum is an award-winning parody of a personal development seminar which sold out around New Zealand and at Adelaide Fringe with 5-star reviews.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jo is a New Zealand based comedian, improviser, and actor. By day she works as a psychiatrist, author, and film producer. Jo wonders why she is often tired.

Previous career highlights include being a Canterbury 3ZB cheerleader last century and being typecast on stage and screen as everyone’s neurotic mother. Comedy provides welcome relief from peri-menopausal mood swings and the tortures of parenting teenagers.

Jo was nominated for Breakthrough Comedian (S.I.) at The NZ Comedy Guild 2020 Awards. Her debut solo comedy show “The Cool Mum” won Best Solo Show and Audience Favourite Show at the Nelson Fringe Festival 2020.

Jo also performs regularly with improvisation troupe Impulse Theatre. Screen appearances include feature film “The Stolen” and TVNZ’s “Adam and Eve Show”.

Jo Ghastly is the comedian stage name of psychiatrist Dr Jo Prendergast. Dr Jo will be talking about her teenage mental health book for parents ‘When Life Sucks’, in a separately ticketed event at 8.30pm.
