ABOUT THE SHOW
Duende, or ‘tener duende’ (having duende) translates in Spanish as having soul, a heightened sense of emotion, expression, and heart. It refers to spirit in Spanish, Portuguese and Filipino folklore and means ‘ghost’ or ‘goblin’ in Spanish.
Duende promises to be an entertaining and popular show with Lara’s flamenco guitar mastery showcasing his talent at the top of the Australian contemporary music and performance scene. He will share this passion through his mesmerising masterful skills and techniques on the flamenco guitar and ‘with impressive and elegant articulation’.
Duende transports audiences to Southern Spain with the virtuoso guitarist accompanied by a multicultural and dynamic ensemble. Performers include guest flamenco dancer Deya Miranda Giner, and Byron Mark on percussion and piano.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Passionate Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Lara, with a distinguished international career of more than 30 years touring the world alongside Spain’s greatest flamenco maestros, presents a magical performance of authentic flamenco guitar, dance and song.
Based in Australia since 2017, Lara was inspired to produce his dream project, DUENDE, bringing to life his original music compositions and music created by great composers such as Jose Maria Cano, Concha Buika and Luis Bonfa. The project combines the unmistakable sound of Lara’s hometown, Jerez in Andalusia Spain, the heartland of traditional flamenco and culture.
