Australian cabaret chanteuse and musical theatre star, Queenie van de Zandt, renowned for her artful storytelling and raw, emotive vocals, brings to you the songs, stories and art of the musical legend that is Joni Mitchell.
In the spellbinding show – BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell – Queenie and her 3-piece band pay homage to all the qualities that make Joni such a unique and timeless artist.
Affectionately reinterpreting Mitchell’s music, Queenie reveals the intimate stories behind Joni’s haunting songs from the BLUE album, such as ‘A Case of You’, ‘River’ and ‘Little Green’, as well as celebrating her greatest hits such as ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ and ‘Both Sides Now’.
Since 2017, the Helpmann nominated, award-winning show has been enchanting audiences across Australia and internationally. Throughout her illustrious career, Queenie has achieved notable accomplishments, including roles on television shows like Upright II and The Newsreader, critically acclaimed performances in plays such as Women of Troy and Abigail’s Party, with her film credits including Scooby Doo and Girl Clock. In musical theatre, she’s garnered awards for performances in shows like Next to Normal and Into the Woods, and her distinguished cabaret career has seen her tour the world in shows such as Smoke & Mirrors and BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell.
As the driving force behind Amazon Woman Enterprises, Queenie has created award-winning theatre shows, released 4 albums, and created a cult-following for her comedy alter-ego, Jan van de Stool. Beyond her performance work, in 2015 Queenie founded The Australian Musical Theatre Academy (AMTA), which brings together top-tier industry professionals and gifted students.
With a staggering 21 theatre award nominations and 8 wins, Queenie van de Zandt continues to receive recognition for her immense talent. Her unwavering commitment to her craft and advocacy for artists nationwide has established her as a true champion of the arts.
