Can a trip to the 80’s and a chat with 15 year old you really solve your mid life crisis?

Get in the front seat of your Delorean with Tammy, who’ll soon be your new best friend, and head back to the 80’s to work out the meaning of  your life. Meet your 15 year old self, ask the big questions, sing your favourite songs at the top of your lungs with a real live 80’s band,  slap on too much blue eyeshadow and reclaim your red cassette player from the bottom of your garage.  All Fired Up – solving the problems of the world, one 80’s song at a time.

Box Jelly Theatre Co. are based in Cairns and believe in ‘enhancing the community’s wellbeing through the power of creativity’.

Rachel Terry is artistic director of Box Jelly Theatre Co. in Cairns which currently tours shows to regional primary and highschools across FNQ. Box Jelly has collaborated on several community projects with the Cairns Museum, Cairns Regional Council, Cairns Family History where Rachel has taken on the roles of director, and producer. ’Rachel’s love for dance and theatre began at age 5 on the Cairns Civic Centre stage to the song ‘Macho Duck’, where the only thing better than the applause was the Polywaffle chocolate she received after her performance. After finishing high school Rachel swapped art forms and pursued acting in Sydney where she completed her Bachelor of Dramatic Art in acting at NIDA. While in Sydney she had numerous guest roles in several Aussie films and TV shows. (The Sugar Factory, Heartbreak High, Water Rats, Picture This). Rachel returned to Cairns in 2013 where she worked with JUTE on The Impossible Dream, Paradise is Singing, The Breast Project and The Salt Remains in acting and directing roles. Rachel recently worked as the Dance Captain for Everybody Now’s The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair for Cairns Festival 2022.

Gutsy, powerful, tender and highly passionate – Roz Pappalardo is known throughout Australia for her prolific music and songwriting career, most notably with independent champagne folk act, women in docs, and her solo work as a strong country roots musician, and most recently, spacious, alt country earthy songwriting duo, Lontano. Highly passionate about local arts and culture, she developed the only regional Queensland livestream TV show during COVID, The Kitchen Sessions, with compadres Sam Gibb and Mick Allen to keep bands and visuals artists based in Far North Queensland on the map during lockdown, raising a significant fund for those who performed and appeared. She works tirelessly with diverse communities to bring forth unhear voices in song, including projects such as The Soldiers Wife, The Songs of Murray Street and Big Sky Girls to name a few. She has recorded approximately 10 albums of original songs, winning various songwriting, self-management and music business awards for her efforts. She programs Tanks Arts Centre, Munro Martin Parklands, Cairns Festival, the Court House and Cairns Performing Arts Centre. She has performed acting roles in Paronella Park’s work, The Impossible Dream as Margarita Paronella, JUTE Theatre Company new works – What are the Odds (Angela Murphy), Rosa (Roz Pappalardo), Paradise is Singing (Kathryn Ash) and Alice in the Antipathies (Sasi Victoire), has written and acted in two works which she has toured nationally and internationally (Banging on the Door and Rosa).
