Sun 07 Nov – Deb Suckling + Minor Premiers

Minor Premiers are an indie-rock/pop 4-piece based in Brisbane. They formed in 2017 on the back of an urge to make music like Yuck, Smudge, The Lemonheads and Dinosaur Jr. The bands’ first single ‘Oh My My’ took off unexpectedly with over 300,000 plays on Spotify. Their recordings have found their way onto a number of charts, airwaves and Spotify’s most popular playlists. In June 2020, they released their debut album Sheets In The Garden, which received glowing reviews and high praise from their loyal fan base. On stage, Minor Premiers have appeared alongside bands including Bugs, Totty, Raave Tapes, Sycco, Concrete Surfers and Robert Forster. In 2021, the band have played their biggest shows ever – supporting Sweater Curse at the Tivoli, and playing two support shows for You Am I.

Deb Suckling has finally taken the wraps off her first solo offering with her recent single ‘Awkward’. A swirling, quirky, unpredictable slice of angular guitar rock the new tune is the first take from forthcoming album ‘Worthy’ and pays homage to the in-you-face music that inspired her growing up in regional Queensland. Deb has released a host of records over the years, most notably with the bands Brindle and Lucy Star Satellite. She is equally well known for powerful music projects including The Soldier’s Wife, You Can’t Take Me and the Big Sky Girls mentoring program. Deb is also less than keen to talk about herself, leaving some final words to mentor, friend and fellow artist Sean Sennett – “In 2021 Deb Suckling is standing where she was always meant to be – centre stage. That’s where she belongs. With a powerhouse voice and a swag of new songs, Deb has the courage to lay her soul bare and sing her truth.”
