Sun 04 Dec – Sissybones + TRICHOTOMY with Nozomi Omote

Sissybones are an acclaimed 4-piece harmony, folk-collective that matches beautiful songs with an amazing live show. Founded by renowned longtime local singer/songwriter/ferryman/extraordinaire Paddy Dempsey – they incorporate a refreshingly innovative musical experience. Also featuring Alison St Ledger (Brisbane’s favourite chanteuse), they use multi-vocals with guitars,, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, bull-fiddle, dobro – to create an unforgettable soundscape of heartfelt and inspired alt-folk. They deliver music that’s powerful and provocative, rich and innovative, humourous and simply beautiful.

Acclaimed Brisbane contemporary music trio Trichotomy return to the powerhouse stage in a special performance, featuring the sounds of the captivating percussionist Nozomi Omote. The trio are known to audiences for their wide-ranging collaborative projects – working with folk/country singer Danny Widdicombe, dance company Expressions, and the Black Square String Quartet amongst others. In this performance, the jazz-inspired sounds of the piano, bass and drums trio are augmented by Omote’s percussion parts of vibraphone and various drums. With a sound that blends jazz, classical and experimental music, this group are Brisbane jazz royalty. 20 years of performing together, tours around the world, awards and critical acclaim.
