Once Upon a Time in Australia has been cancelled due to Government restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Due to the capping of international flights to Australia, Ms Gillard has delayed her return from the UK so as to not displace a person in more need from being able to secure a flight and scarce quarantine spot.

In consultation with all involved and in response to on-going COVID travel restrictions this event has been postponed until WOW 2022.

  • If you purchased your tickets online, the card holder will receive an automatic refund within the next 15–20 working days.
  • If you purchased your tickets over the phone or counter at Brisbane Powerhouse, our friendly team will be in touch with you soon to organise a refund.

If you have any questions about your refund, please contact our Box Office at

Once upon a time in Australia the two highest positions in the country were held by women, 25th Governor General the Hon. Quentin Bryce and our 27th Prime Minister the Hon. Julia Gillard.

In and out of the Office they have both been leaders for change and champions for women and girls. Together, they now reflect on their experiences, achievements, and how they think we can now build on this moment for change.

This event is part of Momentum a conversation and performance series created by WOW (Women of the World) Australia for Brisbane Festival 2021.

We take the safety of our patrons, staff and artists seriously.

A COVID Safe Plan is in place for Brisbane Powerhouse.

For contact tracing purposes, we are using the Check In Qld app.

For a seamless entry on the night, we recommend downloading the Check In Qld app prior to your arrival.

If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell, please stay home.

Of One Mind, is a cultural enterprise formed by Cathy Hunt & Leigh Tabrett in 2014 to develop & support cultural activities which address or communicate pressing social issues and create lasting cultural change.

The continuing issue of focus is the need to create a more gender equal world (as there is no country in the world where women and men are equal) in the belief that it is through gender equality that we will find the solutions to the many other ‘wicked problems’ that the world faces today and make life better for all, women, girls, men and boys.

Of One Mind works in partnership with the WOW Foundation to facilitate the delivery of WOW Festivals and activities in Australia. The organisation also creates and promotes year-round cultural activities including those for the UN International Day of the Girl Child (11 October) and DomestiCITY for the Brisbane Festival 2020.

We acknowledge the Jagera/Turrbal peoples, the First Nation Traditional Owners of the land on which we gather. We pay respects to all Elders past and present and acknowledge the young leaders who are working beside our Elders in our cultural industries. We recognise all First Nation peoples as the original storytellers of these lands and acknowledge the important role they continue to play in our community.
