The Good Room invites you to join them for a conversational escapade, a few drinks and a good time.

Get to know a stranger in this high-fun and low-risk, socially distanced intimacy experiment.

With 36 random questions, a bottle of your choice and a glitter drop, take a chance on a stranger becoming your new fast friend. This one is for bold and adventurous punters who like their hearts open and glasses full.

Patron Note: One Bottle Later is a one-on-one performance event designed for you and a stranger. Each performance includes 14 tables of two strangers in a combined space. Under COVID regulation and protocol, you and a stranger will share a bottle of wine (that you will select together) and answer a series of questions (of your choosing). A non-alcoholic option will be available and water will be provided. The cost of the bottle and its service is built into the price of admission. There is some movement in and within the performance.

pre-event check-in

Pre-event check-in is now closed for One Bottle Later.

If you missed the pre-event check-in, you’ll still be required to check-in on arrival at our Welcome Back Desk. We recommend arriving 45 minutes prior to the start time of your show. Please ensure you have your tickets ready on your mobile device before entering the building.

TICKET INFO

Ticket price includes wine and snacks.

This is a small-capacity experience that relies on patrons to participate individually (this is a great solo outing!).

Prices vary on the day of the week. Wednesday’s show is a preview of the performance.

Strictly no latecomers so please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive.

more info

The Good Room is a Queensland-based performance collective that uses the anonymous experiences of ordinary people to create extraordinary theatre works. They ask you – and people just like you – to anonymously share fragments and memories, confessions and admissions from your lives, as part of a process that blurs the line between ‘audience’ and ‘maker’ to play with the idea of theatrical collective authorship.

It is an investigation of empathy, connectedness, stakes and sacrifice. This expresses itself in an aesthetic world that is both dark and light-matter; a dichotomy of spectacle and depth. Mirrorballs, rose petals, panda suits and party dresses stud our theatrical universe but totems of party, play and celebration are often subverted; this is richly affirmative, highly contemporary, and widely accessible theatre – underpinned by rigour, ethics, and deep consideration.

The Good Room is comprised of an ensemble of diverse makers with practices that span film through visual art. They are Lauren Clelland, Daniel Evans, Tara Hobbs and Amy Ingram.

...what The Good Room do is throw everything onto the floor - a vast collection of ideas and feelings and responses to real events and crowdsourced verbatim material - pour fuel over it, and set it on fire to create a spectacular event and food for thought, for a life outside the theatre that demands our burning presence.

  • The Good Room are my kind of people. Brave, glittery, gutsy makers who always cut to the heart of their subject unashamedly. They are national treasures and should be celebrated as such.
