Poemas de Iberia is an extraordinary flamenco production that fuses poetry, music, and dance to celebrate the soul of Spanish art and culture. This electrifying performance features an exceptional lineup of national and international artists who will transport audiences to the heart of flamenco.
Headlining the production is the renowned flamenco dancer Juan Aguirre (Seville/Chile), joined by Amari Leiva Urzua (Sydney), Simone Pope, Fernando Mira, and the show’s creator, producer and dancer Sebastian Sanchez. On vocals, Zoe Vélez and Cherie Morgan deliver emotional depth, accompanied by guitar maestros Marc Van Doornum and David Heisner, with Shenton Gregory adding virtuosity on violin.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sebastian Sanchez – an accomplished flamenco dancer and choreographer from Australia of Spanish heritage, with over 15 years of experience performing internationally, showcasing his deep understanding and love for flamenco.
Fernando Mira – an Australian-born flamenco dancer and actor, who has performed internationally in productions such as Strictly Ballroom and Soul Mates, blending his passions for flamenco and acting in various film and TV roles.
Juan Aguirre – a Chilean flamenco dancer, who has studied in Seville under acclaimed instructors like Rafael Campallo and Ursula López. Juan’s professional career spans multiple continents, with performances in Europe and Latin America.
Simone Pope – a renowned Australian flamenco dancer with extensive training in Spain. With a deep connection to flamenco’s traditions, Simone has performed in numerous prestigious international productions, gaining recognition.
Amari Leiva-Urzua – a talented 18-year-old flamenco dancer from Sydney. As part of Compañía Pepa Molina, she has won multiple awards and performed on international stages.
Zoe Vélez – a professional actor/singer/dancer. She has performed extensively with top Australian flamenco artists.
Cherie Morgan – a flamenco singer and dancer, as well as the Director of Flamencollab in Melbourne.
Shenton Gregory – a composer, actor, and performer, known for creating Shenzo’s Electric Stunt Orchestra and his role in the Four Play String Quartet. He collaborates with artists in various genres, including flamenco and opera.
Marco Van Doornum – a flamenco guitarist, who has studied under Spanish masters and performed internationally. He now works with Compañía Pepa Molina in Sydney, contributing to innovative flamenco productions.
David Heisner – a flamenco guitarist, who has trained with the Jero and Morao families in Jerez. David collaborates with top flamenco artists worldwide.
