Swamp Flower
BKTHERULA is an Atlanta-based rapper and singer known for her genre-defying sound and DIY ethos. She began recording music at age nine and gained early traction on SoundCloud with tracks like Faygo and Left Right. Her 2020 single Tweakin’ Together went viral on TikTok, leading to the release of her debut album, Love Santana. BKTHERULA’s music fuses trap, punk, and cloud rap, often exploring themes of alienation, self-expression, and digital identity.
For Swamp Flower, BKTHERULA collaborates with Naarm/Melbourne-based sound artist Kate Miller to create an interactive, sound-based mini golf hole. This work transforms the act of putting into a sonic experience, where ball and body movements trigger dynamic audio responses.
Players can go straight for a hole-in-one or take the scenic route, activating multiple sensors to build a layered soundscape. Miller’s sound design—shaped by her background in-game audio and experimental composition—infuses the space with rhythmic textures and auditory cues.
