BRISBANE POWERHOUSE SPRINGS A SURPRISE WEEKEND OF FREE LIVE MUSIC

Pull up a patch of grass, pack the picnic basket and prepare to be entertained when Brisbane Powerhouse presents Spring Sounds at Sunset, three evenings of free live music from 12 – 14 November.

Soak up the last rays of spring sunshine as a triple-bill of Brisbane favourites, emerging musicians and First Nations artists ease you into the evening with a mix of jazz, blues, folk and world music across the weekend.

Spring Sounds at Sunset starts on Friday 12 November with performances by Tibetan/Australian artist and composer Tenzin Choegyal, three-time Queensland Music Award winner and folk singer LT and a collaboration between contemporary jazz ensemble TRICHOTOMY and alt-country singer-songwriter Danny Widdicombe.

Saturday’s bill features blues rocker Dusty Miles, rising jazz vocalist and composer Kayleigh Pincott and energetic and exuberant world music ensemble Cigany Weaver.

Rounding out the weekend on Sunday is Balkan and Mediterranean world music trio East of West, Indigenous R&B singer, songwriter and musician Chris Tamwoy and powerhouse blues duo, Hussy Hicks.

Spring Sounds at Sunset producer James Lees invited music-lovers of all ages and musical tastes to roll out the picnic blanket and enjoy a free evening of live performance celebrating the depth of Brisbane’s musical talent.

“Brisbane is overflowing with incredible musical talent of so many different genres!” Mr Lees said.

“I love the idea that audiences really appreciate such diversity and it will be exciting to see these artists together on one bill.

“It’s also such a great time of year and a stunning location to enjoy live music.”

The celebration of live music, local talent, food and season takes place on Yagara Country and is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
