FRENCH SUMMER VIBES HITTING BRISBANE POWERHOUSE THIS JANUARY

14 NOV 2019

French contemporary music royalty and one of Australia’s most-loved French acts, Nouvelle Vague return to Brisbane Powerhouse on Tuesday 21 January for a delightful and danceable edition of So Frenchy So Chic.

Featuring original lineup, Marc Collin, Olivier Libaux, Phoebe Killdeer and Melanie Pain, Nouvelle Vague are celebrating their 15th anniversary by returning to their artistic roots: an acoustic guitar, a few keyboards, a smattering of ambience, and two singers who interpret the band’s iconic songs.

Known for their innovative reworking of a diverse range of songs, from new wave classics like Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division), Guns of Brixton (The Clash) and The Killing Moon (Echo & The Bunnymen), Nouvelle Vague plan on dishing up something special for Brisbane audiences.

Brisbane Powerhouse Artistic Director is excited to welcome Nouvelle Vague back to the venue and encourages audiences to get into the swing of this contemporary bosso nova inspired band.

“We last had Nouvelle Vague in 2017 for a sold out performance in the Powerhouse Theatre,” said Stewart.

“Their formula is genius in its simplicity – classic English punk and New Wave songs given a unique bossa nova arrangements with French accented vocal talents”.

“I also feel a personal connection to Nouvelle Vague who were a big part on my Wedding Reception playlist and got our friends and family partying long into the night. Their live show is even better and I look forward to new audiences discovering this much loved band” said Stewart.

Gearing up for a performance sure to be a wondrous mélange of the eccentric and the melodic, join Nouvelle Vague as they take audiences on an unexpected journey through their rich musical history of popular culture topped with excellent musicianship.

Don’t miss the return of French contemporary music royalty as Nouvelle Vague fill the Powerhouse Theatre with groove-worthy beats and hypnotics rhythms for So Frenchy So Chic 2020. Tickets on sale now from brisbanepowerhouse.org.
