ABOUT THE SHOW
Early bird tickets are sold-out.
Legendary Japanese noisemakers, Boris return to Australia.
In the realm of experimental rock, few names shine as brightly as Boris, and as they mark their impressive 30-year career, it’s clear they’re still at the forefront of the genre. Giants in the world of heavy music, the trio have earned a cult following over the years with their discography spanning 29 albums across a multitude of genres, ranging from metal to ambient and even electropop. Be it psychedelic metal, colossal drone, blistering punk or shoegaze, their impact on the global rock scene has been nothing short of revolutionary.
Their live shows are known for shaking concert-goers to the core, with their high-volume intensity and colossal crescendos.
Joining Boris is J-Rock legend Kiyoharu. Hugely popular in Japan via his blend of hard-rock and traditional sounds and a previous life as a prime mover in the Japan-only Visual-Kei scene, Kiyoharu brings a 4-piece band to Australia for the first time.
Part of ΩHM 2024.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Boris (ボリス, Borisu) was formed in 1992 in Tokyo and composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. The Japanese sludge/doom rock trio have since become cult favorites, releasing 29 studio albums with famously heavy downtuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempos.
With an ambitiously experimental aspect to much of the band’s work, you’ll hear walls of sound, variously drawn from psychedelic rock, punk, noise, minimalism, pure sludge-drone music, and more.
Kiyoharu (full name Kiyoharu Mori) is a venerable patriarch of J-rock, having fronted two successful bands — Kuroyume and SADS — in the ’90s and 2000s, in addition to leading a thriving solo career.
Boris is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
