ABOUT THE SHOW

Come grab a copy of the latest book from the array of writers at Brisbane Writers Festival.

As part of Brisbane Writers Festival, Avid Reader will be setting up a pop-up book shop on the Turbine Platform.

This shop is open to the public regardless of seeing a Brisbane Writers Festival event.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Avid Reader opened at 173 Boundary Street in September 1997 when Fiona Stager, Kevin Guy, Verdi Guy and Colleen Mullin decided that West End needed a bookstore specialising in new, quality fiction and non-fiction. Since then Avid Reader has grown from strength to strength with the help of our valued customers and great staff.

Avid moved to 193 Boundary Street in 2004 where we expanded our event space. We have frequent in-store events including book launches, signings, various book clubs and introductory nights for fledgling and established book clubs.

In March 2015 we moved the kids next door opening Where the Wild Things Are as a speciality book and gift store for avid young readers. Avid has become a lot quieter since.

Over the years we have won a number of local business awards and national bookselling awards of which we are very proud.

Avid Reader was named Australian Bookshop of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards 2021. We contribute and donate to a range of local, state and national community organisations.
