Chris Parker

Give Me One Good Reason Why I Shouldn't Throw My Phone Off This Bridge
09-12 May
BOOK

ABOUT THE SHOW

It was seeing a sponsored post for ‘exercise shorts with a built-in jockstrap’ that Chris Parker felt he had finally reached his limit with social media.

If this is something the algorithm thinks Chris is interested in, then clearly, it needs to track his data deeper.

Things haven’t been good for Chris and his phone for a while now, with them currently trialing sleeping in different rooms – so a break-up on the cards.

He’s done with social media, content and all the kids on TikTok who are obsessed with diagnosing him with ADHD.

That Feeling When… you owe everything you have to social media, but, you also want to throw your phone off the tallest bridge you can find.

PLEASE NOTE
There is a full lockout for this performance and latecomers will not be permitted.
Infants under the age of 2 not permitted.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chris Parker is hard to miss, which might explain his wedding to partner Michael featuring in VOGUE Australia. His live shows are (super) high energy, he is also commonly known for his funny Instagram and TikTok videos, which have seen his social media audience explode over the last few years. He famously won the hit New Zealand TV show Celebrity Treasure Island and was made nationally famous in NZ for a felted hat he made during the 2020 nationwide lockdown that was then acquired by and is on display, at The Auckland Museum and Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand.

Chris was listed as The NZ Herald’s Top 5 Entertainment Heroes of 2020, and in 2021 was nominated for ‘Television Personality of the Year’ in his native NZ. In 2022, he released the comedy/documentary special for TVNZ, Chris Parker: Back To School, starred in the NZ feature film Nude Tuesday, released his debut novel Here for a Good Time, and was the recipient of the inaugural Topp Prize awarded by the New Zealand Comedy Trust for Aotearoa’s most generous and gifted comedian. His latest live show follows hot on the heels of 2023’s Lots of Love which Chris toured in Australia and NZ, performing to sold-out audiences.

Currently, Chris is a regular presence on NZ TV screens, on The Project NZ and 7 Days, having been a familiar face previously on Have You Been Paying Attention? NZ, Jono and Ben, Funny Girls, Season 3 of Taskmaster New Zealand (available in Australia on BINGE), and the sitcom Golden Boy. His new comedy series, Double Parked premiered in NZ in June, created and written with Alice Snedden, and has already been slated for a second season. Chris is also listed in NZ Listener Magazine’s Top 100 Most Intriguing People making a difference in NZ.

"By the time the show ends, you will have sore sides from laughing." NZ Herald
