ABOUT THE SHOW
Following sell-out seasons across the country with Manifesto, internationally renowned Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake makes a triumphant return to Brisbane with her monumental work, Colossus.
Colossus is an exhilarating contemporary dance performance for 50 dancers, soundtracked by legendary composer Robin Fox. Colossus is a mind-boggling feat of living architecture as a horde of black-clad bodies explodes into action, sometimes battling for control, sometimes excluding individuals, sometimes existing in harmony, always thrilling.
In Brisbane, Colossus will be performed by local dancers from Queensland Ballet’s Pre-Professional & Jette Parker Young Artist Programs and Queensland University of Technology (Dance) students.
Colossus sold-out its premiere season at Arts Centre Melbourne and has since toured Sydney, Perth, France, Taipei, Germany, Hong Kong, Newcastle (Aus), Geneva, Montreal, Toronto and Buenos Aires receiving standing ovations, five-star reviews and rapturous response from audiences. The show’s trailer has since gone viral online, reaching a global audience of over 4.3 million.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Melbourne-based Stephanie Lake Company, established in 2014, is a global touring Australian dance company, known for a gutsy, original choreographic style and striking visual aesthetic.
Working in collaboration with Australia’s leading dancers, designers and composers, the company has been presented at major festivals worldwide. Multiple-award-winning choreographer, Stephanie Lake has worked with artists from Bejing to Paris and has directed several large-scale public works involving over 1500 participants.
This project was originally commissioned by Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne Fringe as part of the Take Over Program.
