ABOUT THE SHOW

As Brisbane prepares for a defining decade, what role will fashion play in shaping the city’s cultural identity? Join Fashion Queensland for an inspiring evening of conversation exploring the intersection of fashion, creativity, design, storytelling and placemaking, and the influence fashion has on how a city is experienced, remembered and celebrated.

Hosted by acclaimed curator, writer and cultural commentator Alison Kubler, this special edition of Fashion Queensland in Conversation brings together creative leaders from across disciplines to discuss how fashion contributes to Brisbane’s evolving identity, creative economy and aspirations as a global city leading into 2032 and beyond. Joining Alison on the panel are New Initiative creative director Marie-Louise Theile and Kiosk Film co-founder Sara Taghaode.

Marie-Louise has been at the forefront of the changing face of Brisbane’s fashion epicentre, having overseen the development of the James Street brand and strategy from the outset, established clear stakeholder, retailer and corporate relationships and implemented a series of highly successful annual events. Sara Taghaode is a producer, cultural strategist and non-executive director passionate about building a more creative, connected and vibrant Brisbane. As well as being co-founder and executive producer of Kiosk Film, Sara is founder of Colab 4010, and a Director of Creative Brisbane Collab., where she works across the arts, business and government to strengthen the city’s creative ecosystem.
