If you mildly criticise me I’ll say it’s cancel culture and turn to the alt right.

ABOUT THE SHOW

The Host of New Zealand Today (TV3 NZ/YouTube)
Nominated for Most Outstanding Show at the 2023 Melbourne Comedy Festival

As a comedian I’m a passionate defender of free speech, unless that free speech is used to mildly criticize the obviously bad things that I’m saying, in which case it’s cancel culture and now I’m the victim. I would also like to take this opportunity to say that it’s important to think about my mental health.

As seen on:
Taskmaster NZ
– The Hundred with Andy Lee (Nine)
– Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee (NZ)
– Mondays Experts with Tony Armstrong (ABC)

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Guy Williams is one of New Zealand’s most iconic comedians, best known as the host and creator of New Zealand Today.

Originally a stand-up, Guy got his break fooling NZ’s most popular breakfast TV show – appearing live on air claiming to be a Libertarian pro-whaling activist, promoting ‘whale farming’. That stunt exposing the show’s flimsy tabloid news practices got Guy on the front page of the NZ Herald.

In 2019 Guy was given the opportunity to host his own project and his satirical news show New Zealand Today became an instant Kiwi comedy classic. The show features Guy as a ‘volunteer journalist’ investigating small-town New Zealand mysteries from the controversial ‘Hawera Blackface Parade float’ to our first ever ‘Flat Earth Convention’.

In three seasons, NZ Today has consistently won its 8.30 primetime broadcast slot, becoming the most streamed TV3 comedy of 2021 and 2022. In addition, it’s the only New Zealand YouTube content to make the top 10 most-watched channel list in NZ – and has won Best Comedy at the Guild awards.

In 2023, Guy appeared on all the major comedy and panel shows in New Zealand, including The Project, 7 Days, Taskmaster NZ, The Block NZ and Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee.

Furthermore, Guy filmed season 4 of New Zealand Today and made his Australian Debut on the live stage, with his new show Comedy Plus Time Equals Tragedy to sold out audiences and a nomination for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Guy Williams returned to the live stage in 2024, touring Australia, New Zealand, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show, This Glass House Makes it Easy to See All the Cowards I’m Throwing Stones At. That same year, he made his debut on Australian television with a regular appearance as panellist on Tony Armstrong’s Monday Experts and The Hundred with Andy Lee.
