ABOUT THE SHOW
Beau Miles is taking his Secret Screenings on the road – bringing a collection of new, unreleased films to intimate venues across Australia in 2026. None of them are on YouTube yet. You’ll see them first.
The idea is simple: three or four of Beau’s films, shown somewhere between a first and final draft. None of them fully finished, but are entirely watchable. None of them named in advance. You won’t know what you’re watching until it starts – and each one has a story to tell beyond what’s on screen.
In between films, Beau tells a bunch of stories about why the films are the way they are. Why he loves finding things. Why he needs to shower more. Why a man living on a small farmlet in regional Victoria keeps dragging himself into rivers and eating spotty bananas and filming it all. The stories may or may not have anything to do with the films being shown. That’s part of the deal.
The evening finishes with a Q&A – voted the best thing ever witnessed by one audience member. That audience member was Beau. He stands by it.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Beau Miles is a filmmaker, adventurer, and occasional non-showerer based on a small farmlet in regional Victoria. His films document the strange possibilities that emerge when ordinary places and ideas are taken seriously – runs that last too long, rivers that fight back, days spent doing one thing, repeatedly, to see what happens.
He’s built a devoted following through work that resists easy categorisation: adventure films that aren’t really about adventure, mundane experiments that turn out to mean something, and a stubborn commitment to doing things slowly and in person. He loves finding things, eating spotty bananas, and drinking a long pot of tea without the company of a phone. His second book, Bad River, has been almost finished for several years.
Beau is a dad, a husband, and genuinely terrible at picking the best line at the airport. He has a beard because when he shaves he feels as if the wind has blown for the very first time.
Secret Screenings brings his work into the room – unmediated, unfinished, and told by the person who made it.
