The Rabble – Artist in Residence
ABOUT THE SHOW
Made with THE RABBLE and a community ensemble of participants, UNWOMAN (digital) is a video work that invokes a plurality of experiences with fertility and birth. It is visceral, carnal, and haunting; an uncompromising, feminist artwork, horrified by the history and laws that have and continue to attempt to curb bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.
In this unique experience, the artists will film participants as they share brief accounts of their reproductive history, to be compiled and included in future UNWOMAN performances. This piece seeks to create an experience of empowerment for participants and audiences alike.
If you’re interested in participating in this work, expressions of interest will commence in October.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
THE RABBLE is an established artist-led company creating experimental feminist artworks. Theatrical, surreal, rigorous and provocative, no one makes work like THE RABBLE.
Artistic Directors Kate Davis and Emma Valente formed THE RABBLE in 2006 from a desire to make visually ambitious, feminist and formally experimental work. Comprising a 2-person total creative team, THE RABBLE create content through an improvisational methodology using poetry, prose, tableaux and gesture.
This work is made possible by the support of The Australia Council and Creative Victoria.
