ABOUT THE SHOW

Following a sell-out European tour, British/NZ indie darlings The Veils make their long-awaited return to Australia in support of their new double album … And Out of the Void Came Love.

The Veils have toured consistently throughout their twenty-year history and garnered a formidable reputation as one of the world’s greatest live bands. The band’s first Australian shows since 2009 are to contain a mix of songs from throughout their 20+ year career, from their lauded early Rough Trade albums Nux Vomica and Sun Gangs, through to 2016’s incomparable Total Depravity (produced by El-P of Run The Jewels).

The Veils are supported by Meanjin/Brisbane’s own Moreton, performing solo, renowned for her era-less voice and forthright lyrics atop minimalist power-ballads and sonorous art-rock.

Part of ΩHM 2024.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Since being signed to Rough Trade when lead singer Finn Andrews was 16 years old, The Veils have now released six studio albums: The Runaway Found (2004), Nux Vomica (2006), Sun Gangs (2009), Time Stays, We Go (2013), Total Depravity (2016), …And Out Of The Void Came Love (2023) and two EP’s, The Troubles of the Brain (2011) and The Abbey Road EP (2013). Finn’s debut solo album One Piece At A Time was released in 2019.

They have also been praised by film directors Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton and David Lynch who have all used The Veil’s music on their soundtracks.

The Veils will be joined in support by Meanjin/Brisbane’s own Moreton. Also the Spanish word for bruise, Moreton is the umbrella under which singer and songwriter Georgia James Potter makes “music with friends.” Atop minimalist power-ballads and art-rock, her era-less voice and forthright lyrics shape-shift between the cinematic, the intimate, the bold and the nostalgic.

The Veils (UK) are supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

“Refreshingly passionate… Andrews rages with a Herculean intensity.” - The Guardian
