Turia Pitt: Selfish

ABOUT THE SHOW

The phenomenal Turia Pitt has written several books examining the nature of happiness and resilience through the lens of her extraordinary personal story. In Selfish, she takes an unorthodox look at a familiar subject, questioning the wisdom of putting others first at the expense of oneself, and asking if we might better help those around us by putting our oxygen mask on first.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Surviving burns to 65% of her body during an ultramarathon, Turia Pitt is living proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible. She’s written four best-selling books, coached over 40,000 people in her digital courses, sailed a boat around French Polynesia, competed at the Ironman World Championships, rubbed shoulders with Harry and Megs and been an answer on the game show Hard Quiz. She spends her time with her young family, writing, and teaching women how to run. Her new book, Selfish: How to Unlearn the Rules That Are Breaking You, is part-memoir, part-manifesto — and is a reclamation for those of us who are tired of being well behaved and are ready to take back their time, energy and power.

Rebecca Sparrow is a teen educator, the author of six books (including The Girl Most Likely and Find Your Tribe) and this year is stepping into Maggie Dent’s shoes as the new host of ABC’s Parental As Anything Teens podcast. With her friend Jane Sullivan, Bec also co-captains Birds of a Feather – the largest online book club in the country whose aim is to help women fall back in love with reading. Bec is also an ambassador for The Lady Musgrave Trust which provides support and services to young women facing homelessness. Find out more at rebeccasparrow.com
