MELT: FESTIVAL OF QUEER ARTS AND CULTURE POSTPONED TO 2021
20 MAR 2020
IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC
It is with deep disappointment Brisbane Powerhouse has made the very difficult decision not to proceed with MELT: Festival of Queer Arts & Culture as planned in June 2020.
This was not a decision made lightly but one that sensibly reflects the rapidly unfolding COVID-19 situation and the unpredictable nature of the coming months.
The health, safety and wellbeing of artists, staff and patrons remains at the forefront of our mind as we make this decision.
While we’re incredibly saddened by this outcome, it was imperative to make this decision now to provide our artists with ample notice about their shows.
MELT is a much-loved inclusion on Brisbane Powerhouse’s calendar, shining the spotlight on LGBTIQ+ culture, promoting visibility and inclusivity among the community and sharing compelling and engaging stories with Brisbane.
While we face an unknown future, Brisbane Powerhouse can assure artists, patrons and the broader community that MELT: Festival of Queer Arts & Culture will return in 2021.

NOTE: MELT was originally programmed to run from 18 – 28 June.
