Presented by A Company of Sinners in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse
Damned to the hell realms or continue to rise defiant? In a cloistered cabaret space where sublime sexuality and spiritual matters meet, A Company of Sinners perform dirty, gritty God songs: a set list that rips out your soul taunts your soul while inviting you inside for a sweet conversation.
Sparked by the darkly sensual, yet paradoxically menacing God is in the House by Nick Cave, which draws on politics of morality in a corrupt world, join us to acknowledge and explore the presence, absence and interpretation of God in LGBTQ+ life.
A dark cabaret for grown-ups, experience an intimate and cathartic world where emotion and intelligence can play together, passionate and sensual, painful, loving, critical and satirical. This dynamic cabaret gives voice to strength and kindness, with defiance and humour.
We take the safety of our patrons, staff and artists seriously.

A Company of Sinners has evolved out of the desire to create fresh cabaret work that is intimately enchanting, emotive, gritty and cathartic. As an actor, writer and vocalist Lucinda Shaw has been immersed for over two decades in shows where poetic lyrical reflection and fierce unapologetic performance meet exciting musicianship, engaging audiences in intimate rooms such as the Junk Bar and theatres such as the Powerhouse and QPAC’s Cremorne. She’s known as a vocalist in Silver Sircus and ISIS, collaborations with Electric Moon performing works of Bowie, Kate Bush, Lou Reed and Twin Peaks. She’s recently played a lead role in Matilda award winning The Sound of a Finished Kiss and has played with the likes of Danger Ensemble, La Boite, and Vulcana.
Lucinda joined with Michelle Lamarca, a similarly passionate actor and vocalist, when they worked together playing Shakespeare’s lovers Calpurnia and Julius Caesar last year at the Visy Theatre. She’d been acclaimed for her lead role in Funny Girl and her charisma was palpable. Reveling in chemistry and mutually shared aesthetic, they vowed to bring their performance energies together and collaborate with other proudly queer peers in Brisbane. Seasoned and madly skilled dynamic musicians Ruth Gardner and Karl O’Shea well known to Brisbane audiences, were invited in and together have become the first ensemble of A Company of Sinners, for MELT 2021. They proudly welcome powerful and dynamic cabaret performer Josh Daveta on keys and guest vocals.
