After selling out in 2021, Brisbane’s much-loved Women in Voice returns to Brisbane Powerhouse with another great mix of audience favourites and great new talent.

And what a line up! Irena Lysiuk, one of Brisbane’s most in-demand singers and star of Queensland Theatre’s ‘The Sunshine Club’; superbly talented and versatile singer-songwriter Naomi Andrew; and joining creative forces to deliver a truly unique set will be the wonderful duo of Leah Cotterell and Indian fusion artist Menaka Thomas. Of course, it isn’t Women in Voice without the laughs, so there’s the hilarious Carita Farrer Spencer as the Fabulous Dame Farrar, emerging from her ‘very own, very personal Covid lockdown’. And your MC is Sophie Banister – co-star of Brisbaret, Brisbane’s home of all things quirky and offbeat.

With superb musicianship and its trademark show-stopping finale and spontaneous encore, Women in Voice remains a must-see event for Brisbane audiences and will sell out.

MORE INFO

From humble beginnings in the Sitting Duck Cafe in Brisbane’s West End in the early 90’s, Women in Voice has become a much-loved event on the Brisbane music calendar. Throughout its history, it has given established artists a place to explore new creative challenges, as well as providing a showcase for emerging singers, Now in its twenty-ninth year, its unique blend of audience favourites and exciting new artists, doing their own set, but also providing backing vocals for each other – a true music ensemble – has audiences coming back again year after year.

Women in Voice has found a home at QPAC, Princess Theatre, Judith Wright Arts Centre, among others and since 2018 has presented their shows at Brisbane Powerhouse. 2021 saw the company present Women in Voice – On Tour at Redlands Performing Arts Centre and support a home-grown production in Rockhampton. With support from Arts Queensland, 2022 sees this connection to regional artists and audiences set to expand with home-grown Women in Voice productions in Cairns, Rockhampton and Bundaberg, as well as WIV On Tour again at Redlands.

…the production's trusted formula - old friends, new talent, musical variety, great singing and lots of laughs - still works a treat. All of this week's shows sold out well in advance...Much has changed in the world since the first WiV, but a night out with the energy of a live show never goes out of style.

  • Backed by a talented band, the cast of fresh and favourite performers gives its audience covers and original songs in a nice balance and blend of styles and genres, meaning there is something for everything in its strong female line-up.
